About Me
Ricardo Castilho is a Toronto-based cinematographer and camera department professional with over three years of experience working across narrative films, web series, and music videos. He has worked in roles including Director of Photography, Camera Operator, 1st Assistant Camera, and 2nd Assistant Camera, giving him a strong understanding of both the creative and technical sides of production.

A graduate of Toronto Film School’s Film Production program, Ricardo developed a solid foundation in visual storytelling alongside the importance of preparation, communication, and adaptability on set. Since graduating, he has continued to build experience through a wide range of independent projects, from fast-paced short films to longer-form narrative work.
Ricardo approaches cinematography with a story-first mindset, focusing on clarity, consistency, and emotional intent. He is comfortable working with ARRI, RED, Sony, and Blackmagic camera systems, and values close collaboration with directors and crew to find visual solutions that serve both the story and the production.

In addition to narrative work, Ricardo has shot music videos, documentary-style projects, and live performances. His short film BO:OM, which he wrote, produced, and shot, has screened at multiple festivals including the Niagara International Film Festival and has received several awards, including an Award of Merit, an Audience Choice Award, and Best Actor, among other honours.
